Paintings by Alumnus Chapman Hamborg are in the Laguna Art Museum!

Our alumnus Chapman Hamborg is very excited to share that his paintings “Protector” and “Father and Sons” will be in the Outlook/Insight exhibition at the Laguna Art Museum.

Over the past two years in his MFA program, Chapman has been hard at work creating a body of work focused on family. he is now honored to be showing his art alongside his very talented fellow LCAD MFA candidates in such a reputable museum.

Be sure to go check out the exhibition! He would love to see you at the soft opening during the First Thursday Laguna Beach Art Walk this Thursday, April 6th, 6 – 9 PM, or at the official reception on May 19th, 5:30 PM. (Admission is free during these two receptions.)

Chapman will also be apart of a panel discussion with the other exhibiting artists. During which they will answer questions and share about their work. Panel Discussion: May 20th at 6 PM. Cost: $7 museum members, $14 non members.

More About OUTLOOK/INSIGHT: THE LCAD EFFECT at the Laguna Art Museum

This exhibition is a sampling of the artwork of the 2023 Master of Fine Art graduates from Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD). The quality, creativity, and individuality is a testament to the dedication and independence of these artists. Remarkable artists are attracted to LCAD because of the understanding that time-honored skill joined with personal contemporary concerns can create vital, memorable art.

Outlook/Insight at Laguna Art Museum implies that the mindful engagement with the outer visible world builds personal insights that express, not only what things look like, but what they can make you feel. The rational and the poetic are made apparent to the viewer who takes time to observe and reflect.

The LCAD effect refers to the impact that these artists may have on the larger world. LCAD takes the necessary time to nurture and enable artist to find their own voice. No style, template, or doctrine interferes with the personal development that leads to important enduring art.

We are delighted to introduce you to Erika Bradberry, Xinchen (Jack) Cai, Jason Dowd, Chapman Hamborg, Kayla Janes, Rupinder (Rupy) Kaloti, Amanda Kazemi, Sumire Kudo, Jacquelin (Jackie) Nagel, Kelly Smith-Fatten, Olivia Stude, Emma Yervandyan, and Xixi (Kacy) Yu.
