Jose Lopez Vergara

Today’s blog entry features alumnus Jose Lopez Vergara, who graduated
during the Fall Term of 2018. Jose was born in Mexico City, Mexico and
was raised in Madrid Spain. Since completing the three-year program at
Angel, he has since gone on to studying at the Grand Central Atelier
while developing his artistic voice.

Jose’s painting, The Plague, was a finalist in the Beautiful Bizarre
Art Prize 2020 and was also part of the 9th Annual Summer Exhibition
at Collins Galleries. It has since been acquired by the New Sale
Museum in Massachusetts, USA  as part of its permanent collection.
Another work, Merida, is currently on view as part of the Artefex
12×12 Show 2020 at Gallery 1261 in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Jose is also scheduled to show his work in many upcoming group exhibitions:

  • Collins Galleries – 9th Annual Small Works 2020
  • Gallery 1261 – Small Works 2020
  • Gallery 1261 – Contemporary Realism 2021

In addition to regularly participating in exhibitions, Jose will be
branching out into teaching workshops. He is slated to teach at Craneo
Creacion Gallery in Seville Spain in 2021, once Covid-19 restrictions
lift.

We couldn’t be happier to see one of our graduates thrive out in the
art world, and we are so very proud of him. To follow Jose’s career
